2025 College football thread

Huh? He said Marshall was "a good team", which is pretty broad. Didn't say they were a tough opponent. Don't see anything in that post about UGA struggling to win, because The Thundering Herd is a powerhouse.

UGA should beat the crap out of any second tier team. If they don't, they deserve to drop in the rankings. Georgia HAS looked flat in the past, against teams they should beat pretty easily.

When does Ga Tech play...ahem....Gardner Webb and Temple? Guess that record padding is okay?

By Sun Belt Conference standards, sure, Marshall is a good team. They finished first of SBC East last season. I have seen them play in person multiple times and they give a good game when they are evenly matched.

But by SEC standards... not even close. You know, I know, everybody knows that Marshall vs. UGA was going to be another cashout for the little guy for UGA to buy a W on their 2025 record. The out of conference games for SEC are getting and have been ridiculous IMO. Sure UGA looked good for the most part on Saturday, but what can you really tell about the performance of either team when the match up is that skewed?

I was hoping Marshall would put up a little more of a fight to make Georgia Southern look a little bit better on down the road when it got down to the wire for bowls/playoffs (I'm at school there now). Looks like that didn't happen. What were we supposed to expect?

why does this boil down to Ga Tech???
did you see me post about how hard their pay to play schools are.....are you trying to pass off on the fact that Ga plays 3 "pretty tuff" pay to play/high school teams?? AND then Ga Tech
Good team....what does that mean.....does that mean that their are bad teams?? well, at least we now know GA doesn't play any of them
Play all the "good teams" you want, just don't run around beating your chest about what a great win it was......GA fans, after Saturday will be yapping at the water cooler that they are 2-0 so far this year......off to a great start....tuff schedule, but somehow, they have managed to pull it off so far.....

The issue about teams scheduling lesser opponents was discussed on ESPN recently.

Herbsteet said currently a won-loss record plays too much into the college football playoff picture.

That's why teams are padding their won-loss record by scheduling lesser opponents.

Herbstreet's point is the strength of schedule needs to play a bigger part in the committee's selection.

Conference championship games also add another potential loss to a team who may have a high national ranking.

I took a look at the pre-season top 10 teams, and noted their number of Top 25 oponnents, and Top 10 opponents:

TOP 25/TOP 10

1. Texas - 5/2
2. Penn State - 3/2
3. Ohio State - 4/2
4. Clemson - 3/1
5. Georgia - 5/2
6. Notre Dame - 3/1
7. Oregon - 2/1
8. Alabama - 5/2
9. LSU - 7/2
10. Miami - 3/1

Within the preseason top 10

LSU has the toughest schedule.

Oregon has the easiest schedule

I just pick on GA to piss folks off.....while I am a Tech fan...it is hard not to accept GA's dominance......I can always hope....I do wish they(GA) would play harder teams, instead of the pay to play teams.....doesn't do much to improve my morale....They have three high school teams on their schedule...that's half way to being bowl eligible.....come on man!!! PLAY SOME REAL GAMES!!!

Georgia's schedule had 5 top 25 teams and 2 of those are top 10 teams.

That's not an easy schedule.

Are you including Alabama???I only see 1...typical GA fan...if possible.....can we do the "top 25" counting at the end of the season???...I know, I know, I know...GA never gets a break, and ALWAYS has the hardest schedule....it's a known fact, just ask ANY GA fan...

My post was what their schedule was at preseason. 5 top 25 and 2 top 10.

For your benefit I edited the post above to say GA had 5 Top 25 and 2 Top 10.

I will update for this week which GA schedule now has 5 top 25 and 1 top 10 as Alabama fell out of top 10.

BTW I posted LSU has the hardest schedule, and not GA.

I was born in 1956 and GA Tech has beaten GA 18 times since I was born.

Typical Ga Tech fan.... I'd hate GA too, if they had beaten my team 50 times in the last 68 games.

You good sir are a ramblin wreck... Go Dawgs, no matter how difficult or easy the schedule is, we run this state and drive the short bus down the track. :drum:

there ya go...I have yet to mention anything about Ga Tech, however you keep bringing them into the photo....I've not said what a GREAT Ga Tech team is, or how many "great teams" they are playing, however you have....I'm fairly confident all SEC fans will concede that GA Tech is no threat.....I just don't not understand what it is about Ga Tech...I'm not beating my chest typing about how tuff they are....lets stay on topic...GA is the team that plays 3 pay to play/high school teams...not Ga Tech, which plays their share in lesser teams....I've not said that they don't....GA fans post that the three high school teams are "great teams" when in fact, they are simply paid for schools, to pad Ga's win loss numbers....
