I'd be fine with a rule that a head coach could not voluntarily leave, until their current season is over.

It may be his only chance at a NATTY. So no, he didn't want to leave. I'm sure 95% of the thinking alumni would rather him finish the season.
Interesting that he had negotiated a mere $4m buyout. Not sure why Ole Miss would have agreed to that.
