2025 Official Turkey Challenge

We finally found favor and put a longbeard in the cooler. What a loooong season. Only a few opportunities to hunt ... one pretty chilly, another really wet, and one windy as Chi-town. Just constant wind for hours. Today finally was a productive day in the woods. Saw this guy earlier before the season and can't believe he was passing through today. His long snood stuck out when I first saw him. Thetw's no calling and gobbling in our area now. All that has been done for couple weeks. It is ambush hunting. Find the indicators and lie in wait.
Today was ambush hunting posted up on a creek bottom. Had seen multiple turkey passing through and figured that was best option today. Too wet to hear him, I was dozing laying on my side with a branch holding my head up somewhat. Thought I might fall asleep ... got too comfy. Even thought I better stay alert. And then he came walking and I didn't hesitate. BAM went the Remy 870 and that was it. A bit anticlimactic really because he wasn't strutting in, returning my calls. Just out doing his business and crossed my path. I didn't hesitate. This was likely the last hunt for 2025 Turkey season, couldn't hem haw around.

Thank you, Sir. Rough season this year. Thinking about maybe using decoys next year to make it possibly easier. Will definitely work on our calling between now and then. Looking forward to tasting this one!
