I am looking for a .22lr pistol that meets a few criteria and was wanting some input from you ODT'ers that surely know more about this than I do!

Semi-auto only.
Non slide action.
Reliability.
Long term usability.

Objectives are going to be a lot of outdoor use, in the woods, getting wet, being hot/cold, being dropped etc... With a LOT of rounds to be fired.

I've been looking at the Ruger Mark III and 22/45. I've seen a lot of good stuff about these in particular while searching around these here interwebs. I am fairly new to the firearm world, especially .22lr! Anyone have any input of brands and models that meet or come close to my criteria that you like?!

Thanks guys

I've got a 22/45 and it eats everything, no problem. It is a ***** and a half to strip and clean though. I've got a good system down now, though it still takes alot longer to put it back together than the breakdown and cleaning combined.

I absolutely love my 22/45 Lite! That said it isn't exactly stock anymore. Volquartsen's Accurizing kit, Volquartsen's Competition bolt, and VZ Grips. Plus a supressor :)

It goes bang every time suppressed but doesn't like CCI Minimags when unsuppressed.

I haven't had an issue with the take-down or re-assembly process. The videos on Ruger's website are superb and teach the tricks that make everything easy. The Accurizing kit removes the magazine disconnect and makes the whole process SOOOOO much easier!

I have the 22/45 mk3 Hunter with the polymer frame and it is easy to breakdown and reassemble. I have heard alot of people having difficulties with the metal frames. It hav several thousand rounds through it with 0 problems. did add an aftermarket trigger but original was not that bad.

It's not so bad that I don't clean after a shooting session, but it's a crap ton more complicated than a glock or most other modern handguns.

The 22/45 or a Mark I, II, or III will serve you well. Get one in stainless if you plan to use it outdoors.

I have the Govt Tgt model and she shoots well.
