Many years back, before .308 got so popular, one of the prominent hunting mags polled several Alaskan guides. The question asked was “ If a person wants to hunt all Alaskan game and only wants to bring one rifle, what should he bring”? First choice was 30-06, second choice was .270.

Pick your poison. Both are excellent for anything deer hunting in Georgia or really anywhere. The animal won’t tell
If somebody only wanted one hunting rifle in the South, I would suggest a Tikka T3X in 270. Change the recoil pad. Done. It’s not the only answer but it works.
Killed em all with Both... Love My Ruger #1 in .270 with my Zeiss on it...But have killed a bunch with .308 and all dropped.
