.270 vs .308 for hunting?

That depends on the caliber I am looking for. If I want a 300 win. mag. then the short action just won't cut the mustard. I won't limit myself to short action cartridges only. That's heresy of the highest order! 🤣 Just ask Chris Kyle. I mean we should have done that a while ago I reckon. Have a Xanax bro! It's miller time or whatever. I was nearly stating I will not limit my choices of a hunting gun to one action only. Like if I need a long range heavy hitter. If I were going out west to hunt the heavier game for instance. He ask if I had a preference. The answer is negative. I was just having a bit of fun with it. Ya dig?
300 Win Mag is a long action. Little different can of beans. I just like the short throw on a short action, that's all. With the powder and bullets we have now, it's just a great fit. I don't limit myself and I'm sure you don't either. Just depends on what I'm trying to do
I can dig it! What we hunt more often times than not a short action will do more than we need it to. I have no complaints with it. I have a couple calibers designed for the short action. So yeah I can do short action and some cases a mini action if I am going that route.

I roll my own hand loads in .308 both for paper punching and filling the freezer. Just a simple 150gr old school Sierra Game King over some IMR 3031 fun
