30 carbine in a 300blk

what do you guys think about 30 carbine 86gr bullets out of the 300blk AR? im new to reloading and have stuck to the books so far but had a conversation with a guy the other day sounds like a cool idea but cant find any info in any of my manuals. these are .308s

they are marked .308. ive got the newest hornady book and cant find it anywhere under 30carbine in theirs list of .308s nothing

Awfully light projectile for .300Blk/Whisper. 115's are considered the lightest reliable weight out of a 16" barrel for that particular caliber. I doubt you'll find any loading data for 86gr. bullets. Like Jd said, prob hasn't been done for a reason.

My 8" runs anything from 115's up to 168's just fine. Won't cycle 220's without a can. I'd stick with 115's for plinking. 86r most likely serves no real purpose.

ive been running 150's and 110's and been very happy. hitting a 6" steel out at 200yrds with a red dot.

Some people have had issues getting them to work, but my (30) test rounds functioned 100% without a hiccup in an unmodified Magpul magazine. Oal 2.065" 15 gr H110.
