I'm in progress of building an AR-10 platform rifle and need to know what barrel twist/ammo grain combo would be best for a max distance of say maybe 350 yds.
My lower is a Palmetto State.
Any info on deals for upper parts or kits would also be appreciated.

Thanks and God bless.

165-175 grain in a 1/10 twist barrel. That's usually the standard that a 308 is graded by. Those weights are used for paper punching out to 800. 168 being the more popular of the spread. However it really boils down to what weight your barrel performs the best with. Hope this helps

If you can afford A Rainier Arms Ultra Match barrel you are sure to get a high quality barrel that will shoot better than you can. With that barrel and a good bolt carrier group and fine trigger you will have the workings of a fine shooting machine.

^^^^ what he said but results may(will) very from rifle to rifle so it's best to take a few different loads with you. If you don't hand load shooting a 308 will force you to.

Make sure that you get a PSA upper receiver for your build as the pin holes won't match with other uppers. CustomerAR15.net has some nice barrels if you are building it from scratch. Also, I highly recommend getting and adjustable gas block for recoil reduction.

try 1/10 and several different loads I have a Sig Patrol 716 and after changing the trigger out it is slightly less than 1MOA with my 150gr powerpoints loaded with W748.May not try anything else as it is just a plinker  and on occasion a DAW (deer assault weapon);)

I felt like the upper was going to have to be PSA; do you know if that's true with the bolt carrier group and the rest of the barrel and barrel assembly?

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but how does steel cased ammo run in the AR10 platform, in issues I should be concerned with other than cases sticking, its just for paper punching, plinking.

For 300 yds shoot 150 class. A little less recoil. You don't need the weight to fight wind at distance.

12 twist will be plenty. 10 twist isnt needed until you choose to shoot subs or 200 grainers
