357 lever gun hunting round

I'm not sure if you have ever killed a deer with a modern broadhead but they are nasty. I've never had a deer I shot with a rifle bleed out like I have with a Bow and arrow
Also the damage the broad head makes relys heavily on the movement after the point of impact. A firearm make a temporary cavity upon impact. So two different ways to achieve the same result. I don't favor one over the other because I use to and still do believe Bow hunting is the ultimate challenge for a hunter. It makes the hunter really do his work pre season and in season. I can't do it now only because of my physical limitations but to those who do I salute you. It's a true test of knowledge and skill.

Not sure where "500 ft. lbs." came from. Current GA DNR regs state "any centerfire cartridge" is legal for deer during modern firearms season.
I believe: It was, in fact a regulation that has been dropped in GA—it existed when I first started reading the regs around 2000.

Huge difference between pistol vs rifle ballistics with .357

The rifle velocity extends the range for the bullet performance beyond 25 yards.

This helps the lighter grain bullets with thin jacket construction perform at extended ranges. The heavy bullets work but have more drop to calculate and can do better if they hit bone.

Hunt responsibly.
