This is a most interesting video on Japanese sword making. I was taught the basics of how to sharpen knives, chisels, and plane irions by a japan-trained swordmaker in Hilo, Hawaii years ago....60 years or so.....

you can buy blades from suppliers,you can find virtually any knife scale on line then you put em together. The guys that forge and make blades those are the true knife guys and the cost of those products reflect that expertise. I am just lucky to able to do the things I do with these items. May was a year ago when I got into it so every day is a school day
