40 S&W Ammo in a 10mm pistol

Not gonna vote but about 10yrs or so ago I tried .40 out of g20. Had no problems but I was young and dumb. Probably not the best thing to do.
So yes it functioned but that was in my case. Would it in others and not cause some kind of damage or malfunction? Got me.

Seen videos of people doing it and it seems to function without hiccup. No idea on damage to firearm.
Works just fine in all my 1911's and my EAA Witness Poly Compact.. I've shot maybe about 400ish total and can only think of one failure to eject.. Chrono's slower of course as one would expect with the short & weak 
I've been considering trying some crazy **** and using .40 brass and a .41mag cast bullet 295gr (Penn Bullets) sized down to .401 powder coated and making sub loads for 10mm.. 
500ft lbs. subsonic would be sweet!

I've put 2 or 3 boxes of foty through my Glock 20. Found it to be boringly controllable on the big and heavy frame 10
Something like this.. I've been meaning to try the Sherwin Gloss Black.. GT Bullets 220gr HP. The seating depth actually works for a Lee factory crimp to put it right on the edge of a lube groove. I loaded up some at .40S&W pressure and some at 10mm.. for a 10mm. 500 ft lbs. Subsonic.
