Love mine. Have to admit it's been more of a safe queen lately though. Hope for the day S&W will bring back this series. Would love to see what a 4th gen model could potentially look like!

The higher ups at S&W have been putting out a ton of new releases the last few years. I would like to think they will consider revamping the 3rd gen series. I know they asked the public on Twitter for feedback recently about what their customers would like to see on the horizon and a new "4th gen" series was noted many times.

What if made in the metal as the 9mm?

I think that a 1006 Gen 4 wouldn't be anything like the Gen 3. As I understand it, those guns were complicated to make (which of course, adds to their charm).

I'd expect a new-gen all metal 10mm from Smith to be about $1200 and look like a standard, boring 2024 gun.
