Looking for a hot load for 44 mag. I normally use Win powder when loading my 44 mags but I just can't seem to get the boom of factory Winchester loads. I want to explore other powders and figured I would reach out to my ODT brothers for a little insight. Shoot me your load specs and any data you have on your load.

Thanks
Tiny

h110/W296 is my go to powder for max loads in the 44mag.

2400 is a bit more versatile but generally will be behind 296 at max loads.

Are you using a magnum primer and a tight crimp?

W296 and H110 need a tight crimp and a hot primer to deliver the power. IMR4227 is another good powder.

If you are shooting a pistol with a barrel that is less than 6 inches, you may like HS-6 or 800X.

If you don't have one already, you will need a Chronograph to measure velocities. Sometimes a big boom and recoil actually produce less velocity than a milder feeling load.
