45 colt ruger loads

anyone loading 45 colt ruger/tc? i found some 700x i thought about trying with 255gr keith bullets. any thoughts or suggestions?

you loading for hunting, range, or light loads like cowboy? I would guess hunting/full power loads because of the ruger/tc mention. I have some lighter end loads more towards the cowboy end of the spectrum if you need anything like that.

just did a quick look at 700x. didn't see any specific loads for TC/Ruger for the 700x but did find a cast boolit load. 160 gr LRNFP 1.500" COAL, 4.8gr @ 857fps 8k psi, up to 7.0 gr 1142fps, 13.6k psi

Lyman's load data lists this for a 255 gr lead bullet: 6.0 grains of 700X for 785 fps and 8.0 grains for 1,039 fps (maximum load) in Rugers and T/C's only. I have not tried it, just quoting the Lyman book. Those numbers are from a 10" T/C barrel.

You will get a lot more power from a slower powder: blue dot, 4227, 800x, HS-6, ect

blue dot and 4227 were my first choices but neither are listed in my manuals with a 255 hard cast.
