6.8 SPC is a fantastic round. I have no problems hunting any animal in Georgia with mine and it is a good light weight stalking rifle as well. The military is going to the 6.8 and when that happens the price of the ammo will drop. Hornady Black ammo is a good option in this caliber and is right at $20.00 a box.
I have a 6.5 Grendel. Gonna try it on hogs in December. I like the ballistics. However, what looks good on paper doesn't always translate to real life performance. How about 6.5 Grendel?

My buddy has used a .300 BO using supersonic ammo, and truthfully? His lever action .357 mag with 180gr bullets does a better job on big hogs. I'm just not that impressed.

From everything I’ve read, the new military 6.8 caliber round will not be 6.8 SPC but rather a brand new round designed specifically for the program bid.
