Just about any 7.62x39 round will penetrate anything that you need to shoot through just fine. My ak's have never seen anything but Tula/Wolf ammo. $5 a box at wal mart. People get too excited about the steel core stuff. Its mild steel and doesn't penetrate any harder than the lead ammo. Steel is just more abundant in Asia than lead is, or so I have read.
