How does this happen? I would think that the system would have pressure relief valves and sensors to safeguard against this. I see a lot of lawsuits coming .

Sounds to me like someone hacked into the gas pipeline system. Before computers and the internet (online systems) it was usually someone screwing up but now days all bets are off. :tinfoil3:

The gas company recently announced (as in like today) that they were going to start updating gas lines in these particular towns

Just got a text back from my boss. His bro-in-law said it was 60 psi in 2 psi lines and that the whole area is ruined.
 
Columbia Gas is done. Who do y'all think is supposed to pay for this? Everyone's homeowner's insurance? The Government?
