Not a reloader, but I've seen my fair share of oddities, misfires, etc. However this was a new one. Trigger pulled, click, smoke pours from the breech and charging handle, I wait awhile to be safe. Ejected and found the primer as such. Guys with way more experience than I, what am I looking at here?

Looks like a faulty primer to me. Did the projectile release or no? Can you weigh the round and compare it to another?

Nope, no audible sound just ample smoke. I've seen bad primers or light strikes, just never a primer that sort of self destructs in this manner. I don't have a gram scale so I can't weigh it currently.

If yo have a puller I'd pull the bullet and see what's going on inside the case. Obviously a failed primer but I've not seen one do what you are describing.

I would bet the primer was compromised when it was crimped.

I’ve shot thousands of rounds of this ammo and haven’t seen that before. I would agree with the above that the case didn’t have a flash hole.

I'll pull it and check for flash hole some time this week and post pics, works crazy right now. It'll make me feel better because I stack this particular ammo deep. Thanks for the suggestions.
