I posted a while back that the gf wanted to hunt and that I gave her a 788 fixer upper. Well here it is, not professional but a fine job for a first timer. She stripped, dyed and oil finished the wood using Rit fabric dye and tru oil. She also cleaned all metal parts except for the trigger. This gun only looked like a fixer upper, but was truly a basket case. I suspect the previous owner sprayed it with WD40 and let it varnish up, nothing functioned properly. Now, we are no longer an item but I will be taking her to the range and the possibly the woods. Topping it off will be a Weaver K4. I think she has something to be proud of, what say you?
