Good thing you are looking for your first gun. Sooner or later you will be looking for the RIGHT gun. Then you will get a Glock.

Such a true statement. I did just that today went got my Glock. Not my first gun, but my first Glock.

I'm about to buy a handgun for personal protection and was wondering which is more advantageous. Please help. Any knowledge is appreciated

The other good thing about the Glock is you can buy the 40 or the 357 Sig and if you don't like the caliber or want to practice with cheaper ammo you can just buy a drop in conversion barrel and a couple of mags and shoot the 9MM from the same gun. Actually you can have all 3 calibers with a quick drop in barrel change. Glock gives you the most versatility in calibers AND sizes. For instance a Glock 27(40S&W) can shoot 40 or .357 Sig with a barrel change, 9MM with barrel and mag swap and use the 9/10/13/15/31 round magazines with or without finger extensions and +1/+2s. That's why I presently have 3 Glock 27s and am looking to trade my G22(or sell it) and get another G27.
One platform...3 calibers...a dozen magazine configurations. Much cheaper than 3 guns or more for the same options.
