I think I depends on the cashier. Sometimes I do, and others I don’t.
You guys are so spoiled. To buy ammo in Connecticut you have to show one of:
Permit to Carry Pistol or Revolver
Eligibility Certificate to Purchase a Pistol or Revolver
Eligibility Certificate to Purchase Long Guns
or - best of all
Ammunition Purchase Certificate

It's pretty silly though, because all you have to do is drive to NY or MA and you at least can buy freedom seeds without ID. Edit: Apparently not now, but it was the case back in about 2014

It was the store policy when I worked there back in 2014-2015. Been that way before then. Academy is slowly going the way of Dick's. Most of them won't carry ARs in stock either. As someone pointed out there, depends on store and/or cashier.
You need a license for ammo in MA. And in NY they passed the "SAFE" Act. Read up on it, it's incredibly stupid.
