I picked up a special eraser at Smokey mountain knife works that will remove light rust without scratching I use it to remove light rust and staining on old folders and to lightly clean up fine scratches on brass bolsters you might also try some 0000 Ott steel wool I use little light oil with steel wool on actions on older shotguns haven’t seem to harm finish hope it helps you

A pro-shot lead clean cloth is an excellent tool to have around also.

Glad to hear it the eraser from Smokey mountain knife works has worked real well for knife clean up
