Ahhhh great. Bought a stolen iPhone...

Really? So what are my choices? I don't think my "friend" is paying me back and it sounds like the owner of the phone isn't paying me back either because she was like "my husband appreciates your honesty."

So what do you guys think I should do? I mean I am going to return it but I'm out couple hundred dollars /(
buy new ****

Did you or did you not MEET the guy that sold you the phone? You must have some contact info on him correct? If he's a "friend of a friend" then your friend has his contact info. This shouldn't be that hard.

I did meet the guy that sold me the phone. The guy I knew from school called him. I doubt the guy that I know will give up his friend's info. It seems like they were in it together but what can ya do?

I met up with the "original" owner. He had insurance and already bought a new iphone 6..... He said he paid $200 for the new iphone 6. He said the iphone was stolen out of his truck. He flagged down a sheriff and she helped him call his phone. I don't know if he ever made a stolen report but he did have insurance and has a new iphone 6. He says hes in some financial problems and he would want to pay me some money for helping him get his phone back. He has my info and will call me later when he gets his money situated.....

Well, since you're apparently not going to report the thieves, at the very least, hopefully you'll get better friends. I'm sure their thievery will continue until someone turns them in...

Yeah I don't consider them as friend or friends. Just someone I knew in high school.

i saw a post on Facebook for a iPhone for sale by someone on my friend list. That would mean I know them? Yes I do. It turns out, he didn't have the phone, it was his "friend" that had the phone, whom I do not know. I have no idea who his friend is and my friend whom posted the ad, is claiming he didn't know that the phone was found/stolen so I really can't file charges against him and even if I did, he will just say he doesn't know and that he didn't know the phone that HIS FRIEND sold was found/stolen. So pretty much the guy that I know, is out of the picture of possible legal charges since he doesn't "know" anything.

keep in mind, the guy that sold me the phone is black guy and I do not know anything about him nor would beable to identify him. I called the number that was listed on the activation lock screen since the original owner put it there and that number happened to be his wife's number. So I been communitcating with his wife. I came on here hoping someone had a similar incident and could help since Cobb county is refusing to do anything because I pretty much have no info on the guy that sold me the phone except he was black? I am actually meeting up with the husband and wife tonight to return the phone.

ill keep that in mind... what is the relevance of this again??

The only information I have is on the guy that I know but he isn't the one who had the phone, he was just selling it for his "friend". He texted me saying he didn't know that his friend had a lost/stolen phone. So that's why I said if I file charges against everyone, he would be pissed and he wouldn't even get charged since he was just the middle guy and wasn't actually involved since he didn't "know" anything.

Right, but I was talking about the guy that sold you the phone, not your friend.

so what did the guy who you knew say when you told him his friends phone you bought was stolen and you'd like your money back? i don't think in this whole thread, it was once mentioned the responses of the people you bought the phone from when asked for your money back.....or maybe i missed reading that part?

and original owner says he wants to pay you, but he's already got a new phone. why not just let you keep the old one and have it unlocked?
