I really hate to be "that guy" (especially since I suspect you are a really nice guy) but at some point, this is all on you.
Let me ask, if someone here sold you a gun for $350 that didn't work and was literally worthless (or stolen and you know they knew it), would you just shrug your shoulders?

I would at the very least ask the one guy I knew to tell his friend I want my money back. Atleast then he's gotta come up with a reason as to why he never asked his friend to refund your money or a reason to why he won't. But you kinda just let them all off the hook without explanation of any sort. Not trying to bash you or anything like that but I just feel you kinda rolled over pretty fast and it might be b/c you are a really nice guy and don't like to make waves but for me, that's jus too much money to just let burn.
fwiw best of luck and hope the original owner contacts you and gives your some cash or better yet, the phone he doesn't need b/c he already replaced it.
