I personally wouldn't want it, mainly because it is reciprocating. I believe lasroundboltholdopenak was the website that used to sell an all in one dust cover that had a left side charging handle that was not reciprocating. It was expensive though. I think a front folding charging handle would make yours more appealing.

I kinda dig the front folding handle idea. In the 90s I had a Century L1A1 that had the forward folding charging handle and it was slick.

Already 2 companies that I know of making LH Charging Handles for AK's. I have a Romanian underfolder with this LH charging bolt and cover installed, no real interference with UF arm. I have NO plans on modding any more of my AK's with LH charging though.. one's enough for me.

But you DID buy one! :thumb:

Hmmmm........the wheels are turning.
Parabellum Armament and Dublin AK are a couple of the companies that make (made?) LH gas tube mounted charging handles for the AK's.
Made.
I think Parabellum Armament went out of business. It's a shame, they had a great product.

I would only want a left-side non-reciprocating charging handle if you retained all or part of the right side charging handle to act as a forward assist.

Go ahead, someone say, "I've owned an AK for XX years and never needed a forward assist". Well, I've never needed a spare tire but I've got one in all my vehicles. For a range toy or safe queen, a forward assist may not be necessary. It most definitely is on a fightin' carbine.

My SIG 556xi Russian SBR has a charging handle that can be switched to either side. I run it on the left side and it is reciprocating. Doesn't give me any issues and serves as a forward assist if I should ever need it.

I dont really see a large demand for it amongst guys really into AKs. Maybe enough people who like to modify their firearms endlessly can create a lane for your ideas. More options are always good for consumers, just not sure if it would be worth your time. Try setting up a pre order somewhere and see what kind of interest you get.

Looks like setting up a pre-order is the way to go. I will try to run a video of it this weekend.

Well yeah of course. I wouldn't want to solely rely on a non reciprocating charging handle on ANY gun. I guess you could just charge it again and eject the round that failed to go into battery, but who wants to do that?

I can say that it'd be great on an under folder or ak pistol. Quicker post magazine swap to fire time. Great for shooting from the hip as well.
(Full disclosure: I know the OP, and have done business with and have great respect for SAS Defense).
