Alright boomers, y'all win this round.

Agree. That first reply with the ass in the air shows the gun in the perps hands. He was still a threat! 👊
100% possible. No evidence either way but it sure looked like he just stepped out of his vehicle and shot a guy who was already on the ground.

My bigger issue is why he got out of the truck. The only reason I can see is to pop off a few rounds at the already fleeing vehicle.

Say he hit someone in the truck. No way would that be justified self-defense. And even worse if he hit a bystander. Even cops don't generally have the authority to shoot down a 'fleeing felon', and it would be legal suicide for an average citizen to do it.

I get the initial reaction after seeing this video, it was my first impression too. But in reality this guy may have taken down one thug, but he also put everyone downrange's life into jeopardy just to let off some steam.

Sorry, but not a hero in my book.

You can't see what the guy on the ground is doing, had a gun in his hand so was still a threat.

You also can't see that the other vehicle fled, it was damn near at a stop when it goes out of frame so more armed men could have been getting out of it.

You have no clue and are speculating. Worse you are speculating against the victim and for the armed thugs.

Your book is a gay fairytale.

If this is the assumptions you make in a case like this where someone is clearly defending themselves from multiple armed thugs I really hope you never serve on any jury for anything ever.

We don't know that the vehicle was fleeing. It could have parked just out of the frame so we have no clue what was going on there.

The man can still be a hero based on his initial actions of eliminating the first threat, and doing it quite impressively. Everything was textbook up to that point.

Yup, first shot was 100% legit and impressive as hell. It's the rest that I'm not sure about.

If you watch the video you can see the attackers gun come into frame just as the old guy pops him. It was pointed 180 degrees away from the man so it really doesn't look like the thug was much of a threat at that point.

If he was DRT (and a head shot from a 357 would do it) then it's probably not an issue. But if an medical examiner thought he was still alive and that 2nd shot did him in he would probably be charged with murder in almost any jurisdiction.

As for the truck stopping, that's definitely possible, and if that's true and they were getting out or shooting at him he had every right to engage them. As FB mentioned I'm speculating on a lot of this because we don't have the whole story.

The only thing we know for sure is that the first shot was absolutely self-defense. The rest is speculation on everyone's side.
