AMEX platinum

AMEX keep offering me one.
Fees are much higher per year, but they are giving more perks.

ANyone had or got one?
What's your opinion.

Have one. Perks keep dwindling every year. I keep saying I'm going to drop it, but just haven't gotten around to it. If I had to personally pay the fee, it would have been gone a while ago. IMHO, it's not worth it.

thanks for the feedback.
maybe thats why they are pushing it on me.

I've got the blue cash preferred and is my primary card. $75 per year to double my cash back per year, positive trade off. Can spend the "cash" on stuff as well. Bought a pair of sennheiser headphones last year.

Nope. I am amazed that AMEX is still in business. I think corporate, airlines/branded cards, and a few old people are the only thing keeping them going.

If you fly or travel a bit, it is worth it.

Use the premium lounges for free at the airport.

Starwood and Hilton perks at larger hotels.

$200 credit for a single airline.

Used to offer a companion fare ticket as well, but I think that stopped.

To sum it up, you can travel well even if you are not a road warrior.

In terms of rewards, I like the capital one cards. Flat rate of 1.5% (used to be 2%) on every penny that goes through the card. No categories, formulas, and no annual fees. I use mine for any and everything but my mortgage and the points add up fast.

Have one but has gotten so expensive it is getting harder to justify, especially as I am trying to limit my travels. I think it is now $400 or $450 a year. Have gotten unexpected perks, like a free Mercedes SL for the weekend at a Blufton SC resort, but those high end items are very limited and at the discretion and availability of the resort. It is also nice not to be questioned when you make over $20,000 in purchases in a month, especially when traveling internationally often, but other less expensive cards may allow similar purchases.
