Ammo shortage in Ga!!!

First they use scare tactics and make people think they are going to take your guns away and prevent you from even passing them down in your family. Reaction, everyone buys up all the weapons and ammo and create a nation wide shortage. Then they hold back on the shipment of any and all ammunition. Reaction, people start hoarding ammo or reselling what they can get at outrageous prices. Without ammunition what you have is all you will ever have. Then they back off of the gun ban but say they will settle for a more extensive background check. Next will come nation wide gun registration of all weapons purchased and currently owned and also make it illegal to sell, trade or give a firearm to anyone without it being registered. Afterwards they will create some kind of bill that says you can't own certain firearms and with the aid of the gun registration they know exactly where to go. Pretty soon the only weapons we will own will be Bows and Arrows and Swords. Does not help when someone who wants what you have is armed to the teeth because criminals don't follow the laws like disarmed brainwashed law abiding citizens who have been convinced that they will be protected by the government and that they do not need firearms to protect themselves. Sounds like the beginnings of a George Orwell book called 1984.

Sounds like New York State.

I saw the report on the news today. He stated that he will only sell ammo to those who buy a gun. He wants to make sure anyone who buys a gun in his store can get ammo. He did state about finding a unicorn easier than ammo or something like that but it was nonsense.
Anyone panic buying now is just prolonging this shortage. The bill on banning assult weapons is not even going to the senate vote. According to the CBS evening news last night, the senate needs 60 votes to pass the bill and right now they can only get 40 democrat votes. All this panic for nothing. Obama isn't even talking about it now. Just his so called VP is. Let them do background checks. They should anyway.

Truth about the background checks, thanks, spencer60:

"The federal law is as bad or worse than some of the state laws.

All these background bills do the same thing, force your transfer into the existing system. To do that, the FFL doing the check has to receive the firearm into their inventory. They can't do a NICs check for a buyer on your behalf, it has to be for a firearm in their inventory.

That means a 'private transfer' is essentially you selling or giving the firearm to the FFL. They run a check on the buyer using the current 4473 system. If everything clears, they use the 4473 to sell or give the buyer the gun.

So, once the FFL has the firearm, are they then bound to the terms of the deal you made with the buyer?

Nothing in the law says they are. If you sell your gun to them, that gun is theirs to do with as they see fit. Hopefully they will honor your deal, but nothing says they have to.

How about of you just give it to them to 'hold' while the check takes place? The law is very clear there, the FFL has to take legal possession before the check can be run.

What if they buyer fails the check? Who knows. There's nothing in the law, and since the firearm is now the property of the FFL, they are under no obligation to return the firearm to you.

In essence, the federal bill would ban private transfers, not add background checks to them. The only option that it really has available for you is to sell the firearm to the FFL. You have no other rights or protections if you do anything else.

Of course there's also the precedent this entire process sets, that the government can force you to ask permission before buying or selling legal private property. If this passes, you can bet they will expand it to any private property they want.

And of course they set time limits on what is and isn't a 'transfer'. In the case of the federal law, it's a week for everything.

Leave for a two week vacation, you and your house sitter are felons.

Have a live-in girlfriend or boyfriend and leave for 8 days, you're all felons as well.

Loan a rifle to a friend to hunt with, better only do it during hunting season (which one isn't specified), and get it back in 7 days or you're all felons.

Drop a rifle off at a gunsmith? If they can't get it back within 7 days, you have to transfer it to them or take possession back then drop it off again. Fail to do that, you're a felon.

Get arrested (not convicted, or even charged, just arrested) for any kind of crime involving drugs or domestic violence you better turn in all your firearms. You're now considered a prohibited person, and if you keep your guns you now a felon.

I could go on and on about why this background check law is what the gun control lobby wanted to get passed more than anything, but hopefully it's pretty clear.

Man I cant believe you were the first one to pick up on this comment....guys like this gonna get us registration, and trashing of the Constitution and says he is a defender of the Constitution(USAF RETIRED)

I'm sorry you misunderstood my comment. I was referring to when anyone purchses a weapon from an FFL background checks should be done. I understand selling privately, one cannot do a background check but should see ID or maybe a carry license for handguns. Protects you. As for me defending the Constitution, I did 33 years in the USAF, served in Desert Storm, and a supporter of the second amendment. I hope I cleared up any misunderstandings.

No, you have found the magical Unicorn that ****s ammo!!!

he's still a baby so were starting small
here's a pic of the little feller proudly crapping out some federal 22lr

I dont know why people are panic buying ammo anyways, don't get me wrong, I have my fair share stockpiled, but only because I ran across a good deal on 1,000 round cases. AMMO is not regualated by the feds, only firearms, so get your heads out of your ass people!

Tell that to the gun owners in Connecticut and New York. Maybe they all have their "heads up their ass" or maybe just you do! Before you make a smart comment about how you said "feds" and these are state governments it still shows how our right to buy ammo can be and is being regulated.
