Ammo Sightings - Post All Ammo Sightings Here

AO sent out an email sale flyer this morning…. actually had some pretty decent prices…. I specifically went there for their price on Hornady FTX .380 Critical Defense…. 20 bucks for a box of 25 was a great price (to me)…. it’s usually 30 bucks!

Do those expand well?

I was looking at info on the Lehigh and Underwood 65gr for .380 and wondering if that would be better than JHP defensive ammo in that caliber…. seems with the JHP in .380, you either don’t get much penetration…. or you don’t get expansion…. that Ayoob guy speaks pretty well of that Lehigh copper stuff though…. for penetration and wound channel…. might help make the .380 just a bit better than a "get off me gun" for those needing something small, light weight, low recoil, easy rack in a handgun.

Has anyone else tried that stuff yet in the .380?

380 is anemic sort a speak. I loaded some similar bullets in 38 for my Dad for the better penetration reason. I agree on both levels you're talking about. My Wife has carried a 380 @40yrs. What I know now, I'd prefer her to carry something larger. It's just not 9mm. If I carry a 380 I always used factory loads. My Wife is stuck on the reloads I made for her due to less recoil.

I looked at gel test reports on Lucky Gunner yesterday and seems the Hornady FTX and Sig V-Crown in 90gr has about the best specs for penetration/expansion of most the other brands and weights….

Sounds good. It's really hard to find the right load for 380. 9, not so much. Lots available there. I stopped carrying 380 when I could get a 45 in the same size and weight pistol.

My EDC is a .45 that is just a bit bigger than the Hellcat…. carries 10+1 and with 185gr JHP weighs just under 30 oz, loaded….

I do like pocket pistols. My current is a Double Tap 45. Same weight and size of a Sig P238. 15oz. Not a range gun for sure. The 9 and the 45 came out at the same time. To me, why get a 9 when you can have a 45. The Sig 938 is about a 1/2" longer than the P238. And that's a 1/2" too much for me and how I want to carry it. Been though all the pocket guns 22, 25, 38, 380, 357 and now 45. I never got around to the 44spl Bulldog. Never found the right deal, yet. I still use a 357 every once in a while, S&W 360PD, 11oz
