To follow up on a previous thread (@palmettomoon) about the ridiculousness of auto insurance:
Just got my online bill for July - December. It included a note that "this premium" has "increased" due to a "state" issue. I looked back to the last six-months' bill and noticed I've just been taken for another $50. And the six months before that was another $40 or so. In one year, they've jacked up the price of insurance, by almost $100, on two vehicles, both of which are 12 years old or more. No tickets, no accidents, two adult drivers.
I have USAA, and I have had them since I was 16 and on my parent's policy. On my own since 18 or 19 and in college. I've only skipped out on them once in those 30+ years, and I've always appreciated their customer service. So I called USAA.
Bottom line: because GEORGIA (as in the entire state) has shown an increased frequency in the number of auto accidents and an increase in the amount of money to repair every accident, everyone in Georgia will see an increase per USAA.
I asked the obvious question, do you look at zip-codes? Do you look at MY history? Why am I expected to pay more because the idiots in Atlanta can't drive worth #$@! ? I may drive 40 minutes to work and see 40 vehicles. If I worked inside the loop I'd drive an hour to go ten miles and see hundreds of cars.
I received, and listened to, the insurance customer service rep's written spiel (corrected) about rising costs, remaining solvent, etc. I was polite, but am very, very disappointed. My cars are getting older and my insurance keeps going up. Anyone else see a problem with that?
Lord, it's like health insurance. Only in Georgia you have to have auto insurance. My only way to "lower" my insurance is to get another "discount" by taking a defensive driver's course. Yeah, been driving for 30 years and I'm going to take a "defensive driver's course". Will the Porsche Driving Experience count?
Rant over. Just peeved and realized that I don't know how to spell "Speel" correctly. Is it "Speal"? ADDENDUM: Thank you for the spell check. I shoulda' / coulda' looked, but I was too ticked.
Rant over. Happy Friday! And my God continue to Bless America!
