Another great reason to carry

If its running towards me aggressively, its going down. Breed plays no part. You don't think a poodle can be vicious?

That wasn't the question. The question was which one would you rather your kids encounter. You're not there in this situation and I've said nothing about aggressive action by the dog. Just that they've encountered a dog that has an abusive owner and it isn't on a leash. Now answer the question

We've already pointed out that raw numbers mean nothing without examining cause. I'll repost an important bit from another major study that appears to condemn pits until you actually read all of it.
No...you've pointed that out....not "we."

Didn't answer the question

That study just shows fatalities, not dog bites or attacks in general. So again I ask, do you have any factual evidence to prove that one breed of dog is prone to be more violent than another because of the breed?

If pit bulls aren't more prone to violence then why are they the preferred breed for dog fighters? There are certainly bigger and/or smarter dogs out there that would be better suited if there weren't something else at play.

He never said otherwise. Certain dog breeds are more likely to be violent and aggressive compared to other breeds, even when the upbringing is the same. You're just the king of straw man arguments today huh

That's the information that is not shown. If there is any tendency of one breed to be aggressive than another to any great degree, I have never seen it. Every time this question comes up statistics are trotted out that do not take into account the upbringing of the dog. Show me statistics that support your argument about similar upbringing. Talk about a straw man argument! The anti pit people use it all the time.

Your use of the term "straw man" makes me think you don't actually know what it means.

Because Pit's have a very strong desire to please their owners, more so than other breeds...And most fighting dogs are only animal aggressive. So your point is really invalid about "fighting dogs".

So if a poodle, pit bull, lab and border collie all had an abusive owner, in what order would you prefer for your children to come across one that is running wild in the street? Rank them from your most preferred to least preferred breed to run across in that situation.

Lab (least likely to become aggressive from abuse)

Pit bull (mentally and physically tough, so the level of abuse would need to be much more extreme to create instability. I've evaluated many pits that had been rescued from pit fighting rings that were fine dogs. Give them a little TLC and the LAST thing they ever want to be again is aggressive.)

Boarder Collie (They have a tendency to be very smart and hold a grudge.)

Poodle (Some of them already have a tendency towards unstable behavior because of over breeding. Abuse them and they could go south quick.)

I don't care what the hell anyone says, I may be called racist or whatever over my following statement but it is 100% true. When you live in an area or neighborhood that is majority "ghetto" or section 8 housing, there tend to be a lot more "agressive" pit bulls around. The owners tend to want a "bad ass" dog that goes along with their "gangster" attitudes. Don't believe me, open your eyes and look around. It ain't all about the pit bull, but more the certain demographic of people who just want the dogs for their image. Most of the incidences I see on TV or read about seem to be in these areas. My subdivision backs up to a section 8 dominated subdivision and we see loose pits all the time, most very aggressive. The animal control is constantly being called out here. Like it or not when a pit is not treated the way they should be, and kept in a fenced in area, they will attack. Period. It IS in their nature, it is why they are used to fight, they are mean. There are other dogs that are also but when there is a lot more of something you will get more instances involving it.
