Another piece of **** Chevrolet just got the report last night! This is who we should be protesting against! Ford Chevy Dodge Toyota

That merger was a mistake

JATCO, a leading automotive transmission and electric vehicle powertrain manufacturer, has been involved in several mergers and acquisitions. In 1999, Nissan merged JATCO with its own transmission operations, forming Jatco TransTechnology Ltd.. Later, in 2002-2003, JATCO merged with Diamondmatic Co., Ltd. (DMC), a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Motors, to enhance its global competitiveness in the AT/CVT market. Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors hold significant equity stakes in JATCO.
Here's a more detailed look at the key events:
1. Merger with Jatco TransTechnology:
In 1999, Nissan consolidated its automatic and continuously variable transmission (CVT) business by merging JATCO with its own transmission operations.
Nissan bought out Mazda's stake in JATCO, making it a subsidiary.
The merged entity was named Jatco TransTechnology Ltd.
2. Merger with Diamondmatic (DMC):
In 2002, Mitsubishi Motors spun off its AT/CVT business into DMC, a wholly-owned subsidiary.
JATCO and DMC then executed a share exchange, making DMC a JATCO subsidiary.
This merger aimed to combine DMC's development and production capabilities with JATCO's, boosting JATCO's global standing as an AT/CVT manufacturer.
The merger was finalized in 2003.
3. Current Ownership:
Following the mergers, Nissan holds a majority stake in JATCO (around 75%), with Mitsubishi Motors (around 15%) and Suzuki (around 10%) also holding shares.

The major players at and above Nissan are eyeballs deep into Jatco.

I thought at one point they stopped making the Titan because the tranny was so unreliable.

I had a 95 Hardbody with a V6. It was a good truck. I just wanted a larger vehicle. We were pulling a camper. That Nissan would get a little squirrely with it behind it.
One of my bosses had a Frontier and got rear ended around 21. Insurance BARELY paid it off since he had a horrible rate with CarMax. So he got to start over again. He was looking at a Tacoma four door and his wife was looking at a damn 20 or 21 Silverado. Damn near identical price. His older son smartly voted for the Tacoma. But then the wife threw down the "Camper Towing" card. Yeah she wanted something to pull the camper that they were supposed to buy but somehow still haven't. Don't get me wrong it's a GOOD thing they never bought a damn camper. But now he's buried in this Silverado which has already eaten up front tires and needed a wheel bearing and some other suspension type ****. And by the way...y'all remember when Silverado meant "Loaded Package"? Yeah it was power everything and all the other options. Well I guess the W/T 1500 package don't exist anymore because Silverado pretty much means base truck now.
I still can't believe he got talked out of a Tacoma and into a damn Chevy.

Friend of mine and a member here has a Duramax that looks about 10-15 years old . He has more mechanical skills than me and he said it was "the last safe Duramax year". I assumed it must be a pre DEF engine.
Not long before getting that one he was looking for a 96 and older F150. When I asked why he said 96 was the last year for the good ones. Makes sense to me . That was the last year of the square body trucks as well as the old style 5.0 and the 300 inline 6.
my dad has a 95' exploder with over 700k miles original. v8.

You're gona love this. I replaced that Nissan with a GMC. the front axle fell out of the Nissan, dealer's fault. The GMC has been good. It's an 02, had it since new. It is a 2500 4x4, 496/8.1L with an Allison

I believe @safebuilder put over a million miles (and was still going) on his ‘06-7 Chevy 3500 mostly running around NE Ga, ours are same trucks.

I have an 09 Silverado 6.0 with right at 400k it has pulled gooseneck trailers since it had 250 miles on it new. Still pulling like a mule. It’s on it 2nd transmission 6L80e, other than that 5k oil changes and air filters👍🏻💯🇺🇸

We'll see those older ones are where it's at. My landlord has a really ugly repaint peeling emerald green GMC Z71 or whatever that will pull anything including his big ass Airstream. However...that same truck WILL hurt your feelings at the gas pump. That damn truck got a drinkin' problem!

Well tell us about it!! Engine size?
Had to be the old style pushrod 5.0/ 302. Years ago at the junk yard the 5.0 Fox body guys would be all over an Explorer with V8 badges trying to get at them " GT 40 Heads". But by the time they could find a machine shop to work them over they could have bought new heads from Summit.
