Looking for Anvil and any equipment for forging and making knives
Thanks.
A lot more to an anvil than a big hunk of metal.
My dad got most of his in Kentucky (I will check but I think he got rid of them all)
Typically $1.00 a pound or used to be.
He had a couple dozen, after moving some I asked "Why"?
He gave me a hammer and had me drop it (holding it) on 3 different anvils.
On one anvil it bounced up probably 18 inches. (good anvil)
On the second it bounced up a foot. (decent anvil)
On the third, it barely bounced (dead anvil)
You will pay the same for a dead anvil, if not careful, and work a lot harder to forge stuff.
Have you ever seen a 500 lb. anvil? A BEAST! That one only got moved twice, in his shop, and out. lol

GREAT that another generation is getting into blacksmithing, it is a dying "art"
