Any body on here loading 50 bmg

Buddy has an M107. I reload for several other calibers. He asked me about making some ammo. Done a little preliminary research but have questions.

First off, the press is the main issue. What Press did you have? This round takes an enormous amount of pressure to size cases, you have to have a strong press and have it mounted really well.

Secondly you have to make sure your press has the right thread pattern as they are not standard die thread size.

My RCBS rock chucker supreme can handle it by taking out the threaded insert for normal dies and threading the 50BMG dies directly into the press.

Primer brand?
Powder preferred brand how many grains
Projectiles weight /brand
Best place to procure all this
I think my single stage will do it/ will need some dies.

CCI 50 BMG primers, powders: H50BMG, US869, and Shooters World D100. Charge weights run from 200 to 250 grains depending on bullet.
Projectiles: Hornady Amax, 750 grains, Barnes HP, 647 grains and M33 fmj, 650 grains.
You are going to have a hard time finding powder and primers due to the on going wars. Shooters World will not be shipping any D100 for the rest of the year. Most 50 BMG supplies are going to military ammo production.
After you resize your brass, it must be trimmed to 3.900 inches. Your press needs to have an opening over 6 inches to fit the case and bullet when you are seating bullets.
Let me know if you any other questions.

I'd be VERY wary of doing anything other than 50BMG bullet seating with an RCBS Summit, assuming there's even sufficient clearance for the case.

While it's all cast construction, it's really not beefy enough to handle the force you'll be applying for sizing the brass.

Ammoseek shows me that there are supplies of Hodgdon H50BMG and US869 out there, but as R Rambler says, 50 Cal powder is in high demand by those guys out fighting wars.
