Any Dodge Ram mechanics or have you changed a front hub yet?

I have an 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 with 5.7 HEMI. The driver's side hub is bad.
Is there a way to remove the hub without having to remove the upper control arm ball joint?
Do you have to remove the drive axle in order to get the hub off (book says yes) what does a mechanic say?

By the way if you happen to place the dust cover on inside out, it will go on and the truck will happily let you bolt everything back up because you are tired. You don't figure it out until you go to put the rotor back on. Ask me how I know!

Hub bearing is simple and doesn't take a lot work


But the knuckle takes little more work

Neither do you have to remove axle
Just nut

Hub bearing is a sealed one piece unit on these trucks. No knuckle on this truck it's 2005. It has a 36mm hub nut.

So I ask are you talking about bearing removal or the knuckle

The hub bearing. Is it possible to remove the three 18mm bolts without pulling the drive axle out?

Thanks for the picture clarification LOL. I just need to pull the hub back off to turn the dust cover around and I don't want to have to separate the upper ball joint to do it. I am hoping I can remove the three bolts off the back of the hub without removing the drive axle. I don't know if there is enough room to get an 18mm socket in there.
