Any good safe movers out there

$250 sounds cheap considering the equipment used by a professional safe mover or SafeCracka SafeCracka .

It is a little more involved than getting three friends and a case of beer. SafeCracka got a monster into my brother's basement, around a not so flat yard, over thresholds without a single scratch to safe or home.

Two "good" dudes, gas, truck, insurance, travel time both ways, on-site time, profit, yeah 250 is hitting a lick.
I'd just call a friend, rent a hand truck, and pick up a 12 pack.

Most safe moving companies...

1. have a $200ish minimum

2. charge from the time they pull out of their office to estimated time of return.

3. it is always a huge risk to remove a safe from a customer truck because you tailgate, tail lights, etc all cost money to replace. ( I'd much rather damage my own equipment, then yours)

I had a quote of $400 to move one and was shocked so I decided to do it myself.
I knew good and well I was going to need a good plan and the right tools because a doctor bill or any damage were going to be on me.

Rented a truck with a lift gate from budget truck rental, I think it was like $49 + mileage and the cost of replacing the gas I burned. Wound up being about $80 all in Budget Truck Rental

I rented some "roll a lifts" from Northside Tool Rental that were $49 for the day. Lift, Rol-A-Lift -Lifts - Northside Tool Rental - Atlanta Tool and Equipment Rental

I had 2 sheets of OSB plywood that I cut up to roll it across the floor on so I wouldn't break the tile, rip the carpet, or cut the vinyl, $20 and a 4x4 post with some real 3/4" plywood to build a ramp for the steps another $20. Home Improvement Made Easy with New Lower Prices | Improve & Repair

There's $170 and you haven't invested any time ( it took all day to get everything together move the safe and return the rental equipment) or bribed anybody with lunch and a beer to help you yet.

Depending on the weight you may be able to get by with less, but the right equipment makes all the difference in the world. Just remember one trip through Obamacare or damage to your truck or house can cost you a lot more than the $200.

I saved $230 over having it done but it was an all day job and right now I have more time than money so it worked out okay for me.

Good luck with your project

Did I dream it but didn't @patracy post a vid of unloading a safe out of the back of his deuce and a half by dropping it out the back?

Maybe another member? Anyone remember that?

I remember something like that...hauling ass in reverse and slamming on the brakes? Sounds about right
