Any Info on this Hopkins & Allen?

Any of you guys that can shed some light on this old H&A .38, please share...It's engraved, nickel, gold plated, with pearl speckled grips...I've seen a few Bulldogs before, but NOTHING like this...Thank you for looking...

38 cal could mean 38 s&w caliber aka 38 short

I wonder if the hammer spur was filed off, or if it came that way from the factory.

The only light I can shed on it is I like it. That's a really cool gun.
