Not sure if I can put this here, but if I'm not supposed to, someone let me know.
Was supposed to be out opening day with a guy from work. Turns out Thursday his whole group lost their deer lease because of the actions of one man, so he's spending this weekend pulling his camp and gear. I didn't have anything out there, and he said he didn't need any help, so I'm just out of luck over there.
I grew up hunting family land that has since been parted out and sold by other family; never had to go anywhere else to hunt, so no experience with the process of finding public land.
This was supposed to be my first time back in the woods since my wreck, so I'm kind of in limbo.
I don't use a tree stand, just hunt on the ground, and I'd like to use my old single shot .30-30 or shotgun.
Anybody who knows of land I can hunt within about 20 miles from Douglasville/Lithia Springs, I'd appreciate a PM about it. I don't have a problem going further out, but I don't know how well my 99 ranger with almost 300,000 miles would do going much further than that.
Doesn't have to be deer, either. At this point I'd be happy going for hogs, squirrels, anything in season. I've never bird hunted, but I wouldn't be opposed to it. It's just been too long, and my wreck happened just as the family drama was calming down, so it's been about 4 years since I've gone out hunting, and I'm itching to get back out and do some.
I appreciate any information anyone can give. Thank you all.
