Anybody own a battery powered weed eater ?

I bought the ryobi 40v blower weedeater combo 3 years ago for $130 dollars. Best yard thing I have ever bought. I weed eat everything first then plug in the battery and cut the grass. When I am done cutting the battery is full enough to blow off the driveway. I will never buy another gas one ever. The blower works good on grass on the driveway but that's about as much power as it has. I tried to blow out my gutters to no avail. It wouldn't push the wet leaves out of the bottom of the gutter. I only have one tree that drops a lot of leaves in my yard, I rent a backpack one for a half day to get them up and then the battery one will keep up with it. I have heard that the ergo ones are more powerful.

I have the 80V Green Worx. Supposedly an interchange with Ryobi, can't vouch for that.

Have the tree trimmer and weedwhacker. Very impressed with both, especially the tree trimmer. Have trimmed a couple of red oaks, which I was skeptical to do, but it handled them no problem.

Weedwhacker does fine. a little heavy, but it came with a strap.

IMO, the gimmick is to get you to buy more batteries, as the batteries that come with the unit are marginal for endurance. I purchased an after market off brand battery for about 1/3 the cost of brand new, with 3 times the capacity, and it works fine.

I did not fully appreciate the convenience of having two or three tools and just having to swap batteries to get them to go, No worrying about old gas, no gas, spark plugs etc, damn thing just doesn't want to crank today.

What off brand of battery did you get?

I have a corded Remington mower and Homelite weed eater, that is the cheapest you can do way to go. There is however the cord and 12 amp limit on it. I like the battery powered units better but the cord served me well.
I know everyone has mentioned how the battery power is less noisy, polluting and expensive to operate but there are three words that have been missed so far; maintenance, maintenance, maintenance.
Ain't gotta fiddle with oil nor tune the the motor or get gas, just refill the string charge the battery and knock off the stick clippings.
the one area where the electric trimmers and mowers fail is getting repaired I don't think there is a shop anywhere near Macon that fixes them. However I have never ever had and breakdown with my units so thus far that is a moot point for me.

the Ego system is awesome, you can get tools one Amazon without the extra batteries/chargers once you have started. From mowers to blowers, trimers, edgers, etc. I no longer have to buy gas/oil

I have an 80v green works. It’s a beast. Even runs a bush clearing attachment with ease. I got out of the gas powered stuff after my second engine crapped out on a gas powered model.
