Anyone bought a new Suburban layely?

Did GM get the V-8-6-4 displacement on demand cylinder deactivation thing fixed where it doesn’t destroy the entire engine when it fails ?

My youngest son recently bought a new one, Within the first month, it shut down and shuttered to the point that they left it on the side of the road for the dealer to tow in. So far, it has spent about 3 weeks at the dealership because of a faulty injector and they couldn't source a replacement. I think he may still be driving a dealership paid for Enterprise rental because they did not have a vehicle to loan him. They really like the vehicle, which has plenty of room for the 3 kids and dog, but not feeling he made the right decision trading in a low mileage Expedition.

My buddy just traded their ‘18 Youkon xl Denali for a ‘20 Expedition Max because the Yukon started giving engine troubles.

Less than 80k miles & the deactivation V8/V4 engine troubles.

And the 400lb gorillas in the room are;

Toyota Land Cruse
Nissan Armada

Toyota Land Crusiers are the better buy, the old ones.

The new ones are on the Sequoia platform & aren’t any better than the Domestic offerings.

Damn ! You know the profit has to be good on those for them to offer that kind of stuff for a sale !
Nope. Just a great way to get the next sale.

"Tires for life" means they expect to change out the tires once or twice at most before they can upsell you into a new vehicle.

Tires last 40K or so; by the 2nd set of "free" tires most suckers, uh, I mean customers, are ready for a new car. And they're coming to the dealership and walking around the lot while waiting on their tires to be changed out.

In the meantime: "Wow, look at the beautiful car/truck! I can give you such a great deal on a trade in, you wouldn't believe it! Don't you want to trade it in?"

Just like free oil changes for life, which is a great way to get your car up on the rack so the Service Department can find all sorts of things wrong with it - either getting a big payday for them or convincing you to trade it for a new one.
