Anyone have any experience with "Kit Cars"??

I have dealings with a factory 5 a neighbor built and another different brand a friend built. First 500bp bp in a 2100 pound car will scream. As for transmission a several tremec and maybe t-56 choices should handle that power level. The factory 5 car had much nicer fit and finish as well as better instructions. Than the other brand my friend built.

Ive heard nothing bad about The FFR cars

Id buy a basket case model A or early 30's Ford or any brand vehicle for that matter.
no law against putting a Ford body on some other chassis.
use the VIN from the basket case to register the vehicle.

then you wont have any emission test issues.
trust me it will be totally worth the $$ for the basket case VIN !

if it costs you $1000 or $1200 it will be money WELL spent to avoid ever having to deal with the emission nazis.

you wont be able to get a title, but you will get a registration and liscense plate, in fact you can use an origional plate from the 30's if you can find one, the plate has to be from a year that matches the year of your vehicle, you buy a normal plate like you would for any normal vehicle, take in your antique plate from 1932, the clerk lists both tag numbers in the computer, you put the 1932 plate on your car, and keep the regular plate in the car as well.

if the VIN was not previously registered in GA they will come out and inspect the VIN, probably not any issue having it inspected as a basket case on a trailer. they dont do a safety inspection, just verify the VIN on the vehicle is the same as the one on the paperwork.

otherwise, you are setting yourself up for a major headache , it will be almost impossible to get it to pass a late model emission test unless you use every single part from the donor car. tank vapor recovery, all 4 cats, etc etc.

I know a guy that just built a Cobra replica on a 87 Ford Ranger frame, so he can avoid the emission headaches. registration mentions rebodied, so the cops dont freak out when they run the tag.

I have a 1995 vehicle that left the factory gasoline and got converted to diesel.
so far it has proven impossible to register it in an emission test county.
gonna have to sell it outside metro atlanta.

I plan to order a Factory Five racing 33 Hot Rod kit very soon. This company seems very reputable with a great kit. My plan as of now is to install
a Ford Coyote racing engine and some type of manual transmission. Could use advice on trans rec's and any experiences anyone has with this company or other kit manufacturs. I looked a Streetbeast Cobra kit for sale last week. It appeared to be the POS everyone says they are and the guy was a little squirrely anyway. Anyway, any thoughts or comments are welcome.

If your heart is set on a manual trans, go with a tremec. You can get a 5 or 6 speed.

If you're gonna do a cobra, check this out. They are local.

Hey boz, big o' here. Call LKQ in locust grove. One of my car club buddies told me after you and I talked, he had bought a GTO running gear complete for 2900.00(included was computer and wiring harness)

A cobra replica can not be registered in GA anymore
Replicas are now Considered as the year model of the year they are constructed

Won't pass emissions And very hard to get a title
