apartment rent/lease question

Their house, their rules. I feel certain the lease forbids sublease, and probably guests staying more than a certain period of time. My lease stipulates that a guest staying over 14 days requires additional rent. A landlord frequently makes a rental decision based on among other things who and how many will occupy the property. Changing that factor without specific permission is probably grounds for eviction for the original tenant of record. You are probably an excellent tenant, but it is not uncommon practice for the qualified person to get accepted and then move in one or more persons that the landlord would never accept in their property.
i get that, but im seeing if they will work with me

i havent talked to them yet and they may be reasonable. im trying to figure out why i need a full year lease when she is already on it and if it would require me to put down a deposit.

you have never heard of the roommate ****ing up the place

Exactly.
If you are going to be a tenant, they want you equally responsible. More people increase the risk for damage and wear and tear. Same thing as a pet deposit.
They may or may not require a double deposit. It's an easy enough question to get answered.

lol i plan on staying for at least 6 months, but she has already paid the full deposit and signed a lease, so essentially they are trying to get me to double dip and ensure i pay for an additional month (i sign lease from may to may, she signed from april to april, once her lease is up i could be on the hook for a full month)

Do they have security guards that escort you to and from your apartment?

How would they know...

Most nicer apartments don't allow sub-letting and require all parties on the lease for several reasons. First and foremost they do a background check to ensure you're not a scumbag moving into the community. All the other reasons are liability based so they can come after you also if there is a financial issue with the unit.
