Ar-15 help

Hey guys, I'm asking for a little help here on this one. I took off the the handguard and im installing a freefloat handgaurd. However it was a little hard to do then I had expected. i was wondering if any of you guys on here have a vice and a ar-15 clamp so I can get the barrel nut on all the way. I also didn't know that i needed a headspace gauge aswell. If any of you guys could help out that would be great!

If you are using the same barrel and bolt why would you need to worry about headspace?
