One screw holds a pistol grip onto an AR. Right? Well I got one of the old style AR (M16 style) and the old military pistol grip is help on by... I don't know and when I described it to people like the technical dept. at Brownells and even the manufacturer don't know what it is.

It is not a screw. It looks like a round fitting with an external tooth washer at the end. Does it appear round, but maybe take some kind of hex wrench? If so, what size? Never encountered until recently, but I've seen another AR with the same fitting. So, I know it is made that way and not a mistake. Anybody know what I'm looking at? Pics are worthless given that it's like to take a pic of the inside of a small tunnel opening.

Does it look like this?

Cuz if so, that’s a 3/16 hex head.
