Are you planning on cutting them?


That is a very good point... you pretty much need to cut it with a water jet and abrasive. AR steel is quenched and tempered, so flame cutting is out unless it's ok to have some local strength loss. And it can't be drilled or saw cut easily- or really at all without major tooling cost.

Even the target maker mentioned earlier had to outsource the cutting.

Yes got a friend with shop that can handle and cut them.
 
If you decide not to cut your own, JC Steel Targets http://www.jcsteeltargets.com makes outstanding AR500 targets for a good price, and the proceeds benefit a worthy cause.

Most of the targets I run in my school nowadays comes from JC Steel and they get shot on a regular basis with .223 - .300 WinMag.
