I have made it a point to learn as much as I can for surviving outdoors. I took up trapping and learning the "old school" ways of doing things. I am just wondering if any others are learning the old ways of doing things......for like when there is not running water.....no grocery store......no Wal mart.....etc.... My wife has been learning as much first aid as she can. I would love to hear what others are learning. It would be my thoughts to stay away....far away from stores as we seen what happen during Katrina. To get kill of injured would not just be the end for you but your family that depends on you.

I've had thirty years of mandatory first aid trainning, everything from wound prep and closure to rashes, to cpr, heat stroke heat ex. ect. Hope I never have to use it but.............

I have really been wanting to learn more about agriculture and how to work soil over year after year. I don't have much of a green thumb at all and I think knowing how to "grow your own" is going to be invaluable when you can no longer buy produce.

Liquor.

Learn to distill liquor. If everything ever does collapse it will be one thing that can be easily bartered and can be used as antiseptic...

I've got a total nut job buddy that spent a good bit of time in Laos when we weren't there so to speak, I think that's the most useful thing he's ever said to me...
