Asked to leave WAL-Mart Tonight because of CC Rig Showing...

I'll jump in here... I open carry at all times. I do not do it for attention, as I have had a long career behind the badge as a LEO. I too, have faced aggressive gunfire and survived, so far anyway... But as time goes on, I have gotten older, slower and less patient and more intolerant of the criminal element. I prefer that I not have to deal with them any longer. In my small town of approximately 2000, we have a significant criminal population and I was tested by them within a week of my wife and I moving in. My theory on open carry is as follows, AN OUNCE OF PREVENTION IS WORTH A POUND OF CURE. My mother in-law who is 91 years old, was visiting, and she made the comment as we left the house, aren't you afraid someone might attack you? I simply replied that if I were looking to attack someone, I would choose someone that did not appear to be quite as prepared as I am.
Also, after many years as a LEO, let me state for the record, the laws are written in the books for a reason. Read them yourself, get a legal opinion if necessary from an attorney, but do not trust a LEO to give you legal advise. That is not their job and they, just as the rest of us, have their own personal interpretation of the laws as written. In my case, as I suspect in most, I never had the occasion to arrest anyone for carrying a weapon ecept in the commission of another more serioous crime, so I never researched the law until I started carrying myself. I am still involved with a local law enforcement agency and really am not required to have a GWL, but I do anyway. I guess I do it for the same reason I wear a belt and suspenders, I just don't want to get caught with my pants down.
I apoligize for my excessive rant and will dismount my soapbox now. So much for a "quick reply".
Always remember and don't ever forget......now what was that....????
I feel like it works to a disadvantage honestly to advertise you have a 500 dollar weapon on ya. Prepared or not, of someone has you dead to rights and a gun trained on you, doesn't leave you with to many options

Just my input

Apollo, Thank you for taking the high road and not making a scene. You did the right thing. I would have done the same...

I think because the security seemed to be more in my side that I didn't even say a word to the other employee, as much as I wanted tell her to find something better to do other than stretch out little infants collars on shirts with adult size hangers. (Don't get me started with this lady) thumbs up for "Pete" the security guard and "Nathan" night manager for being two cool cats @ 1:00 am in Walmart.

Response time to draw open is a little faster. And when there is no time, every mili second counts!! IMO respectively. But if your dead to rights, then your dead, but having some type of advantage would be the road I would choose

I like the advantage of surprise and not sticking out, but whatever works for you

Apollo, this is a fact, response time is quicker for the average person... If you train that way then you will be quicker for sure. Im guilty of it. The only way I CC is if my shirt or jacket natural fall over my Pistol. There are more steps to drawing from a CC than OC, even if it is only one more. One could argue that that one second could matter between life or death..

You can also be just as fast from the CC if you train that way as well.

I agree with you with conceal over open in most cases. I was just pointing the fact of draw time. If you were in the situation to draw, would you wanna be concealed or open? IMO open would be a much faster mean to posture up for a shot.

Walk to the back of the store with security? No F'ing way in hell, are you high???? Walk to the back with security and LE, absolutely not. AIFTG?, then walk out the door and be done with it. Voluntary encounters will/may/can/could(pick your favorite) only lead to problems. There are way too many things wrong with this entire mess...:frusty:
