Yes legal to own. Problem is, he has no proof of how he acquired it. It is not legal for them to purchase a handgun. So unless grandpappy gave it to him, how could have legally obtained it??? If he received it through inheritance then there would be paperwork proving that.

I still say its the FFL's mistake. HE needs to make good on the deal if you bring it back. If he wants to DEMAND you bring it back, then i would DEMAND a wilson combat 1911, or at least a colt 6920. Honestly, the guys license and business should be worth at least that. How else is one supposed to learn from their mistakes unless they get a little bite in the ass??

It is legal for an 18 year old to buy a gun from a private party. And there's is no burden of proof of ownership for them either.

Sorry you have the wrong number! Guns are evil, never owned a gun. Good luck

The story sucks! Go with the trade UP and let it be. Don't know how he would loose any license for selling abandoned property. Hes trying to do something to make someone else happy, move on its just a friggin Ruger . They do make nice Sr1911 compacts , even trade right!!!!!!

As stated by another member, this is completely untrue. Individuals, including me, that are 18+ can purchase a handgun through private sales in the state of Georgia.

Okay.... I'll be the devil's advocate for a minute. Is it conceivably possible that the gun store is trying to help out a kid that made a dumbass mistake and simply spoke too forcibly to you when he called?
