Too many on our side have high emotional feelings coupled with political ignorance and your thinking. It will spell disaster for our cause. The only way it would work would be for the protest to be quite, no visible firearms or upsetting signs of any kind. All use of that is the ignorance on our side that will backfire and be used against us even if everything ends peacefully. The media, leftist, facist commie socialist pigs, and fearful of guns ignorant majority public will see most of what we would do as a reason to ban our ARs and high cap mags first, then later semi-auto weapons which is pretty much everything.

Sadly, most on our side simply don't have the political understanding to win over the tactics and agenda of the left. All we can do is call them, wasting their energy and jamming up their switchboard, coupled with peaceful soft very non-violent quite protest. Its the opposite of what we would think we should do that will work in our favor with the public and politicians.

I agree with most of this except calling your representatives always makes a difference. I just no longer have faith in our elected officials. The ones that mean well are such a minority they can't make any difference. You've been calling your reps for 30 years? How has that worked out? From where I'm sitting I've seen slow but steady loss of ground. At this point, BEST case of Gov, is that it as a whole is unable protect our individual liberty. The steady game of anemic defense has been proven to be a losing strategy. You say its ignorance of politics? I assure you it isn't ignorance. To think that our government can be trusted to be effective in protecting the values our nation was founded upon may be ignorant however. The proof is all around us. We just have to open our eyes to the reality of the situation instead of blindly holding on to belief that is proven wrong every day. What's that old saying about repeating the same thing, expecting different results and insanity? Applies here I think. Until we realize that no ones going to fix this but us we will continue losing. At best our Gov is a limp dick. To think otherwise is just another nail in the coffin.

You make good points, and I agree with ya for the most part. Me, I said I've been observing, following, watching politics for 30 years. Other than voting, bitching, blogging debates, and talking up my opinions with others, I haven't made calls as much as I should. I've observed a lot.

Anyway, we are discussing different angles. You're talking about the govt and politicians, and I'm talking about Public Opinion. It is the ignorant, (not knowing the truth), public that will be manipulated by the lying deceiving media who will use any situation they can to fuel their agenda. The politicians work with the data made for them by the media, and plants of anti-gun groups.

My point is, we can't win if we show up armed and dangerous. The public will only see dangerous people, and follow the lead propaganda of the left, media, and politicians, and agree to vote against our 2A rights. Soccer moms don't want to see guys with guns, they will side with the Liberals. Heck, they are so over-protectionistic with kids today, that kids can't even play outside without mom's freaking out that Johnny isn't within eye range of the kitchen window.

If we aren't portrayed as peaceful, then it will work against us, imho!

Assembling near the state Capitol on Saturday could prove expensive, at least for organizers in Georgia. They’re being asked to pay about $6,700 to cover overtime for state troopers to provide security. Capt. Mark Perry of the Georgia Department of Public Safety said that’s because the rally is on a weekend — permitted assemblies are free on weekdays when statehouse security is fully staffed. “It’s an insult,” said Atlanta rally organizer Chris Hill, who said he has no intention of paying.

What's his plan, stage the rally without paying the fee? That'll go over like a lead balloon.

Damn right. Paying the government 6700$ for permission to protest is a DIRECT violation of the first amendment. We already pay officers. If more of them have to be on duty the so be it. The state should swallow the cost. More people need to resist this BS.

That’s a good illustration of how badly it will look if we turn up festooned with scary black rifles. The NY post is doing a story that paints gun owners as fringe kooks and they chose to headline the “bring a rifle angle” because that will scare soccer mom and scare off any undecideds who might have wondered what was going on.

For this to work, there needs to be a decent size crowd and the crowd needs to be non-threatening (from a non-gun owner perspective) and well behaved. One bad apple will hog all the media attention.
