ATN: German Military collectors is this SS hat pin real?

Bought a bunch of random stuff at a gun show and this was with it. I’m trying to establish whether or not it’s real and what an approximate value would be because I don’t normally deal with objects like this.

The ones I have seen typically have "pins" still a interesting find. Did you keep it?

From my stepdad's collection. SS Cap Skull marked RZM M1/52, which is Deschler & Sohn according to the sticky? Seems to be a lot of variety and slight differences and variations in style
